The Hype: VC Funding Continued to Thrive in April with SalesLoft and FullStory Coming Out On Top

Hypepotamus is a popular digital publication that covers the southeastern innovation economy and tech ecosystem, and on this edition of ASBN’s The Hype, editor-in-chief Holly Beilin will give us a run-down of the latest news and events going on in Atlanta’s tech scene.

Similar to the first few months of the year, April was a big month for venture capital funding. Two big Atlanta-based software companies SalesLoft and FullStory. Both companies took in some pretty significant investments from west coast investors. Smaller companies also won big in April with lower-series funding rounds.

FinTech South 2019 hosted one of the biggest pitch competitions so far this year. The financial technology conference put on by the Technology Association of Georgia (TAG) awarded $50,000 to Stackfolio. Stackfolio has created a digital marketplace for loan trading. Atlanta’s fintech companies are some of the most interesting because they are tackling real-life, everyday pain points for thousands of people.

In terms of Atlanta incubators and accelerators, Switchyards Downtown Club has launched a new vertical called the Switchyards Neighborhood Club. The cool thing about this initiative is that you don’t have to be a startup founder to participate. Their Midtown location will be opening soon, and it’s a great opportunity to network and socialize with other people in the community.
