Square launches new artificial intelligence tools for businesses

Author: Colin Velez

E-commerce and point-of-sale platform Square has unveiled 10 new artificial intelligence tools to help small businesses in various industries improve efficiency and focus on growth.

Square incorporated a variety of artificial intelligence technologies to create its new features, the first six of which focus on content creation. Two tools, Menu Generator and Photo Environments, rely on image generation to create food menu designs or replace photo backgrounds with realistic alternatives. The next four features, Personalized Email Copy, Team Announcements, Website Copy Generator and Suggested Replies, use LLM algorithms à la Chat-GPT to create a variety of texts for different mediums and purposes.

The remaining features focus on making businesses easier to manage. The Auto-Generated Library allows sellers to quickly add auto-recommended items to their catalog of products, while Auto-Imported Services gives service-based companies, such as a spa or advisor, the ability to transfer appointments between booking platforms. Square has also created a Kitchen Category system that uses artificial intelligence to improve synergy between front-and-back-of-house operations within restaurants. The final tool, Item Descriptions, allows users to quickly add new products to their digital point-of-sale system without wasting hours writing listings for each entry.

Square is the latest in a slew of social media and e-commerce platforms integrating artificial intelligence into their product and service offerings. Although AI has become a bit of a marketing buzzword, its proliferation is already changing the way small business owners engage with their audiences and manage their operations. While not every feature is necessary for every company, entrepreneurs should nevertheless stay up to date on the latest AI integrations for their industry.
