Facebook brings back job listings to help small businesses hire local talent

Author: Jasmine Kiniklis

Facebook is reinstating its job listings feature, nearly three years after sunsetting it. The relaunch provides a powerful recruiting tool to small- to mid-size businesses to connect with local talent just in time for seasonal and holiday hiring. It’s free, easy to use, and allows small businesses to advertise openings without extensive marketing.

How Facebook’s job listings work

Job listings now appear in a dedicated tab within Facebook Marketplace, allowing job seekers to browse and apply for local opportunities without leaving Facebook’s interface. Businesses can post openings at no cost; however, listings must be for entry-level, trade or service industry positions.

Through Facebook Messenger integration, employers can chat directly with interested candidates, streamlining communication and boosting engagement. Job openings can be posted through the Marketplace, a business’s Facebook Page or the Meta Business Suite. Listings are also displayed on the business’s Page, extending visibility to users who visit their profile. Before posting, employers should review Facebook’s Job policies and the eligibility requirements for each listing.

How to stand out in Facebook’s job listings

While the revival of the jobs feature could be a game-changer for small businesses, it isn’t without challenges. Because the barrier to entry is low, competition will be high as the Marketplace is flooded with openings. To attract quality candidates, businesses must find ways to stand out.

Create attractive and credible job listings

To attract applicants, small businesses should create professional, trustworthy listings. The best posts are clear and detailed, including:

Use professional yet conversational language to sound both approachable and credible.

Build credibility through business presence

Make sure that the company’s Facebook page is active and linked to the job post. Maintain consistent branding with a professional logo, banner image and an “About” section that mirrors the brand’s official website.

Improve visibility

Update job listings regularly to stay near the top of search results. Share posts in community groups and encourage employees and followers to share them to expand reach even further.

Why Facebook’s job listings matter for small businesses

Facebook’s job listings feature offers small business owners a free, high-impact way to find entry-level talent to fill open positions quickly.  With billions of active users, Facebook remains one of the largest social media networks. Unlike professional job boards, such as LinkedIn and Indeed, it integrates naturally into users’ daily browsing habits.
